This is a cheer that I’ll always remember from my swimming days. PMA stands for Positive Mental Attitude, and we repeated this mantra to help us stay positive through difficult sets, swims, and various other challenges. After all, swimming is a mental game.
Staying positive comes easier to some people than others, but it is a skill that can be developed with practice. It’s just like any other muscle. The more you work it out, the stronger and more resilient it becomes. My favorite, “go to” technique is turningnegative thoughts into positive ones.
Train yourself to look on the bright side. Train yourself to see the glass as half full. Train yourself to embrace failure as a learning opportunity. Flex your positivity muscles. The more you do it, the stronger you will get. You too can experience the power of positive thinking!
